Movie production is gearing up for the summer season with shooting under way in Brown County on the movie, Chance. Based on the real-life story of local baseball star Chance Smith, the movie stars Matthew Modine, most recently in Stranger Things, as the team’s baseball coach. The real coach of Chance’s team, Michael Daly, co-wrote the script and the majority of the movie will be shot where Chance played baseball, Flash Baseball Complex.
Also this month, we’ll get our first look at the Cincinnati-made, John Travolta biopic, Gotti fresh off its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in May. Directed by Kevin Connolly of “Entourage” fame, Gotti will be released in theaters on June 15.
“While John Travolta has kept a steady film presence in recent years, he turned heads back in 2016 for his performance as Robert Shapiro FX's in The People vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story for which he earned an Emmy nomination,” said Cinema Blend. “Travolta's turn as John Gotti looks like it could potentially be that same kind of award caliber performance, presenting the man as charismatic, yet someone who should definitely be feared.”
Expect a Film Cincinnati special showing of Gotti to be announced soon.
