Park City, UT (For immediate release) – For the third year in a row, Cincinnati is listed as one of the best cities in North America to make a movie, according to MovieMaker magazine. The list, unveiled Friday at the Sundance Film Festival, ranks Greater Cincinnati as 14th in the country among big cities for best locations for film producers to make movies.

MovieMaker determined the winners using surveys, editorial research on tax incentives and recent productions, as well as personal visits to most of the locations on the list. Cincinnati ranks ahead of such cities as Miami (15th), Cleveland (16th) and San Diego (18th). A full list of the top 20 is below.

“It’s an honor for the Greater Cincinnati area and Film Cincinnati to be named to this prestigious list,” said Kristen Schlotman, executive director of Film Cincinnati. “The recognition as Ohio’s top film location is a testament to the talented cast and crew members who live and work in Cincinnati and who support the production companies who bring their projects to our area.”

“Cincinnati’s big 2018 was topped only by its 2019,” said Tim Molloy, MovieMaker editor-in-chief. “We’re thrilled about the new and returning cities and towns on our list of creatively thriving places for moviemakers to do great work. Ohio’s 30% tax credit has cemented its spot as a thriving film destination for the foreseeable future.”

MovieMaker also quotes Killer Films producer Christine Vachon, who has shot a number of films in Cincinnati, including Carol and Dark Waters. “Kristen (Schlotman) and her office at Film Cincinnati work so beautifully with productions in terms of easing their way, helping you figure out what makes sense pragmatically and creatively.”

The top 20 list includes: 1) Albuquerque; 2) Chicago; 3) Vancouver, BC; 4) Atlanta; 5) Toronto; 6) Austin, TX; 7) Montreal; 8) Memphis; 9) Philadelphia; 10) Boston; 11) Portland, OR; 12) San Francisco; 13) Dallas; 14) Cincinnati; 15) Miami; 16) Cleveland; 17) Kansas City, MO; 18) San Diego; 19) Houston; 20) San Antonio.
